PSCU Financial Services said will provide mobile banking services to the credit unions it services, many of them in the Tampa Bay area, and their membership.

The mobile banking services, which are expected to be available in the second quarter of this year, will help credit unions build membership and appeal to the needs of Gen Y customers, according to a release from St. Petersburg-based PSCU, the nation's largest credit union service organization.

The service also will help credit unions served by PSCU to compete with banks, including several in the Bay area that have rolled out their own mobile banking services.

PSCU said its new service would provide real-time, on-demand access to checking, savings and credit card information. It also would provide secure access to balances, search and retrieval of account transaction history, and the ability to transfer money between accounts and to retrieve and pay bills.

PSCU partnered with several other companies on the initiative. It will adopt a financial platform developed by Sausalito, Calif.-based mFoundry to deliver mobile banking and payment services.

PSCU also said it would work with Digital Dialogue of Auburn Hills, Mich.; First Data Corp. based in Greenwood Village, Colo.; CheckFree in Atlanta; eFunds Prepaid Services in Scottsdale, Ariz., and core data processors. PSCU's IT staff will have the ability to customize the branding of the application for each credit union, the release said.

PSCU, a nonprofit cooperative owned by more than 500 credit unions, serves more than 1,100 financial institutions nationwide. Florida represents one of the largest states in terms of the location of its membership.
