MONTREAL, June 6 (Reuters) - Cognos Inc. (CSN.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) (COGN.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Tuesday it has postponed the release of its first quarter fiscal 2007 financial results to an unspecified date.

Cognos, Canada's biggest software company, had previously scheduled its earnings release for June 21. The company said the delay came pending the conclusion of a previously announced U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission review of its accounting methods. Cognos also postponed its annual shareholders meeting and annual financial analyst conference.
