Axway Inc. Tuesday announced a new product to help the aviation industry guard against counterfeit parts.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Authority estimates that each year, 2 percent of the 26 million parts installed on airplanes are counterfeit. The company's new product, Synchrony for Aviation, was designed to address the safety risk created by those 520,000 counterfeit parts by helping users electronically certify and track aircraft parts within the supply chain.

Axway's North American headquarters is located in Scottsdale. A part of the Sopra Group of Paris, Axway acquired Scottsdale-based Cyclone Commerce Inc. early this year.

The combined company expects to focus on fast growing industries such as health care, financial services, retail, logistics and transportation industries.
