The total insured losses from three wildfires which have swept across California are likely to be between $600 million and $800 million, according to AIR Worldwide Corp.

The catastrophe risk modeling firm’s loss estimate accounts for the Freeway Complex, Sayre and Tea fires, which broke out in southern California on Nov. 14.

It includes damage to or destruction of primary structures and their contents, as well as estimated business interruption costs for commercial properties and additional living expenses for residential policies, said Boston-based AIR in a statement.

The Tea fire was the first to break out. It destroyed around 1,000 buildings and burned through 65 square miles of land, AIR said.

It was quickly followed by the Sayre fire, which began Nov. 15, and then the Freeway Complex fire on Nov. 16. Together, these two fires burned through nearly 42,000 acres of land, said AIR.
