Rapper Heavy D claims his insurance company owes him around $1.5 million because of an accident at a 1991 City College of New York celebrity basketball event.
Heavy D, whose real name is Dwight Myers, helped organize the event where nine students were trampled to death, and has since paid out $791,899 to settle lawsuits, the New York Post reported Tuesday.
The $1.5 million he is suing for is for the amount he has paid plus interest and legal fees. He claims that his $1 million insurance policy should have helped him.
The accident happened when 5,000 people showed up at a gym capable of holding only half that number and nine people were trampled to death.
