Scott Hinton Promoted to President of Companion Life Insurance Co.

Companion Life Insurance Co. Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Trescott N. "Scott" Hinton Jr. has been promoted to president of the company, effective Jan. 1, 2007, Companion Life announced today.
Hinton will replace President Donald H. Dashiell, who is retiring after serving as the company's top executive since 1994.

Hinton has served as vice president since 1995 and CFO since 1996. He joined Companion Life in 1986 as director of financial services and assistant treasurer. A native of Clemson, he earned a bachelor's degree in financial management from Clemson University.

"We expect to continue the tremendous growth that we have experienced in our entire product line under Don's leadership," Hinton said. "Our success is based on our ability to anticipate market trends and the needs of our customers. We listen to our strategic business partners and have the flexibility to create solutions that are mutually beneficial."

Since Dashiell became executive in charge 12 years ago, Companion Life's revenues have increased six-fold. The company also expanded well beyond South Carolina, offering products in nearly every state. Dashiell, who joined Companion Life in 1994 as executive vice president and chief operating officer, was promoted to president in 2002.

Dashiell came to Companion Life after serving as chief operating officer of States West Life Insurance Co. in Washington state. He earned a bachelor's degree in English from Stetson University and holds the designation of Chartered Life Underwriter.
