LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- A state Senate panel could begin voting on proposed changes to Michigan's individual health insurance market as early as this week.
But it might take more time for lawmakers to strike a compromise from competing proposals.
Attorney General Mike Cox said Monday he is among those favoring a Senate plan supporters say would maintain oversight of rates set by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. That plan would not include some changes Blue Cross wants, such as a high-risk pool to cover individuals turned down by other insurers.
Blue Cross favors a competing Senate plan that includes a high-risk pool and other changes.
The House already has passed Blue Cross-backed legislation critics say unfairly benefits the company.
