The presidential election isn’t the only one that will affect the insurance industry, especially for North Carolina residents who must elect a new insurance commissioner in November.
“It’s important that employees and agents become educated about the commissioner candidates and their positions,” say Liz Reynolds, NAMIC’s Southeast state affairs manager. “Friends and family members will look to the ‘insurance people’ they know for guidance on election day.”
North Carolina’s “insurance people” will have the opportunity to learn about the three candidates – Wayne Goodwin, Democrat; Jack Odom, Republican; and Mark McMains, Independent – at a candidates forum Sept. 24 at the Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte, N.C.
The forum is open to all insurance company employees and insurance agents, but an RSVP is required for attendance. Sponsored by the Insurance Federation of North Carolina, the forum begins at noon and is to be moderated by Dr. David Marlett of the Brantley Risk and Insurance Center, Walker School of Business at Appalachian State University.
To RSVP, contact Russ Dubisky or call (919) 834-9733.
