NEW YORK, June 13 (Reuters) - Bank of America Corp. (BAC.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the No. 2 U.S. bank, on Tuesday said it hired Lewis Warren from larger rival Citigroup Inc. (C.N: Quote, Profile, Research) as deputy head of global investment banking.
Warren reports to Brian Brille, global head of investment banking. Both work in the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company's Banc of America Securities unit.
Based in New York, Warren will oversee business planning and client processes, and will try to insure that the investment bank works more closely with commercial banking, treasury services and wealth and investment management units to better provide services to clients.
Bank of America recently spent $675 million to expand its investment bank, in a bid to compete more effectively with such rivals as Citigroup, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS.N: Quote, Profile, Research), JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Morgan Stanley (MS.N: Quote, Profile, Research).
Warren spent 10 years at Citigroup, most recently overseeing business development for global transaction services, including cash management, trade finance, security and funds. He previously led Citigroup's Canadian mergers and acquisitions practice.
Warren has graduate degrees in business and law from the University of Virginia.
