Texas Department of Insurance approves Ameritas Purchase of LifeRe Insurance Company

LINCOLN, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On Friday, June 29, the Texas Department of Insurance approved the purchase of LifeRe Insurance Company by Ameritas Life Insurance Corp., a UNIFI Company.

The sale was prompted by the retirement of LifeRe Chairman of the Board and CEO Richard Galland. The sale allows Ameritas' Group Division to operate a new sales and service center in San Antonio, where LifeRe is located, making Texas one of the largest states in its business portfolio. According to Ken VanCleave, senior vice president - Ameritas Group, "We are dedicated to growing our business in the central region, and are looking forward to providing the same business philosophy and excellent customer service that LifeRe brokers and clients have come to expect."

The transition of inforce LifeRe business will occur in 2008, with the remainder of 2007 spent on systems conversion, associate training, and relationship building.
