MetLife Completes Acquisition of SafeGuard Health Enterprises, Terms Not Disclosed

NEW YORK (AP) -- Life insurer MetLife Inc. on Friday said it completed its acquisition of SafeGuard Health Enterprises Inc.

The deal was first announced in August. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Dallas-based SafeGuard provides dental and vision benefits in California, Florida, Texas and Nevada through HMO subsidiaries, as well as through an insurance subsidiary, SafeHealth Life Insurance Company.

MetLife said the acquisition expands MetLife's dental and vision benefit options in what it called "key markets."

Shares fell 83 cents to $59.47 in aftermarket electronic trading after closing up $1.42 at $60.30
