Hurricane Bertha strengthens to Cat. 2Jul 10,2008 00:00 by AP-NewsMIAMI (AP) — Forecasters say Hurricane Bertha is moving slowly, but could regain major hurricane status as it heads toward Bermuda. The storm is currently a Category 2. It's unknown if or when the hurricane will make landfall and what impact it could have on Bermuda. Forecasters have been urging people on the island to monitor the storm's progress. As of about 11 p.m. EDT Wednesday, the center of the storm was about 590 miles southeast of Bermuda. Maximum sustained winds are about 105 mph with some higher gusting. Large swells and high surf are expected to affect portions of Bermuda during the next few days.
